His football coaches told Palm Beach media he was a “respectful” player — and the whole situation was hard to believe.

“I don’t know if he got himself mixed up in something out there, or if he was in the wrong place at the wrong time, Alfred Shipman told CBS 12. “I don’t understand why this happened to a kid of this caliber.”

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office has not said what the motive was for this crime. We don’t know if it was drug-related, or if Perry was a random victim. KnightNews.com checked with both the Orange and Seminole County jails to see if he had ever been arrested for drugs or anything like that in the UCF area before. He wasn’t. However, he was arrested in Orange County for driving with a suspended license in November 2010.

“You know its very troubling, just the way this whole generation is going. It just didn’t seem like Frank would end up in that type of situation. He was always a good kid, he was always popular with the ladies, all the guys on the team loved him,” Shipman told CBS 12.

Joshua Cox, 23, has been arrested and charged with first degree murder with a firearm, robbery with a firearm and use of a firearm in committing a felony according the the booking report.

Frank Perry,21, was found dead due to a gunshot wound at the Arbour Apartment complex near UCF. According to the Orlando Sentinel, the shooting was drug related.

Cox is being held at the Orange County Jail on Thursday without bail.

Palm Beach billionaire John Goodman, who stands accused of driving drunk, plowing into UCF grad Scott Patrick Wilson, then leaving him to die, has reportedly pulled a legal move an adoption attorney told WPEC is “both awful and brilliant.” That attorney suggested it was done in order to shield his assets from a Wilson family lawsuit.

A Polo club founder, Goodman, 48, has adopted his 42-year-old girlfriend, Heather Laruso Hutchins, according to reports. They’ve been dating since 2009.

According to The Palm Beach Post, Wilson’s family attorney shares a similar analysis as the adoption attorney. The paper is reporting the plaintiff’s attorney says Goodman is “attempting to shield assets from a civil suit” filed by Wilson’s parents.

“By way of this adoption, John Goodman now effectively owns one third of the trust assets,” the Wilson attorney told the Palm Beach Post. “It cannot go unrecognized that he chose to adopt his 42-year-old adult girlfriend as opposed to a needy child.”

Goodman’s attorney disagrees with the analysis of the other two attorneys. Goodman’s lawyer denies the move is an attempt to shield assets in response to the lawsuit. Instead, according to a statement, it is all being done to protect and grow the assets of the Trust for his two minor children.

“Nothing in this arrangement with Ms. Hutchins is illegal,” read a statement from Goodman’s lawyer. “Everything that has been done by Mr. Goodman was done with the intention to preserve and grow the assets of the Trust for his two minor children, even should he personally be unable to continue his historical role in achieving these goals.”

“The adoption of Ms. Hutchins will have no effect on the civil proceedings as none of the assets of his children’s Trust belong to Mr. Goodman. All of the assets of the Trust have been disclosed to all parties in the current civil proceedings, so any allegation of hiding or secreting of assets is totally false.”

According to ABC news, West Palm Beach Judge Glenn Kelley described the moves as something that “border on the surreal and take the Court into a legal twilight zone.”

“The Defendant has effectively diverted a significant portion of the assets of the children’s trust to a person with whom he is intimately involved at a time when his personal assets are largely at risk in this case,” the judge wrote.

Again, Goodman’s attorney disagrees with the context in which ABC has characterized the judge’s quote. He provided KnightNews.com with the following excerpts from the judge’s Jan. 26 ruling:

· From Page 1 – “The Court has previously held that the assets owned by the children’s trust may not be considered a part of the net worth, or the financial resources, of Mr. Goodman for purposes of assessing punitive damages.”

· From Page 6 – “Heather Hutchins’ interest in the children’s trust maybe considered in connection with assessing Defendant John Goodman’s financial resources.”

KnightNews.com has been following the story since Wilson died in February 2010, driving home from Orlando to visit the Palm Beach area for his little sister’s birthday. It has sparked outrage among UCF students.

Goodman’s civil trial will reportedly start March 27. Meanwhile, his criminal trial is set to start March 6, where he’ll answer for charges of DUI manslaughter, vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of a crash. He could face 30 years in prison if convicted, according to ABC news.

The case got national attention as Parker disappeared the same day she appeared on The People’s Court, having it out with her fiance Dale Smith. Smith has been named the prime suspect in the case, but he denies wrongdoing and has not been charged by police.

The couple has young twins.

Update:At about 9:00 am, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call of a man down at the Arbour Apartments. Deputies responded to the complex and located a black male deceased in a parked vehicle in the complex. The individual sustained an apparent gunshot wound.

Original Story:A man’s dead body was found in a UCF-area apartment parking lot Tuesday, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office told WFTV.

The man’s body had at least one gunshot wound, and was found in a car at the Arbour Apartments complex parking lot, just south of the UCF campus, the station reports.

No other details, including the victim’s age or identity, were released.

The deputies had to jump out of the way when they heard screeching tires barreling toward them.

“It was a very close call,” Trooper Montague Haight told ClickOrlando.com. “The officers would have been hit if they would not have been there and heard at the last second the squealing of the tires, they would have been hit by this car.”

No one was injured in the accident, but the woman was given a ticket for careless driving, the website reported.

Deputies were directing traffic at the time because of a water main break at Alafaya and Corporate.

Patrick Macchione,24, was sentenced to 4 years in prison with 15 years of probation pleading no contest  on 19 charges of cyberstalking, according to ABC news. The network reported Macchione stalked fellow UCF student Kristen Pratt for over a year before he was arrested.

Macchione was accused of sending death threats via the popular social networking site Twitter, and over 27 threatening videos over Youtube.

The two met when they were  students at UCF  in 2009, Pratt claims the relationship was normal at first, but took a turn for the worse shortly after. According to Pratt, the relationship got weird once Macchione started leaving hundreds of voicemails and text messages routinely.

Pratt is still not completely satisfied claiming that 15 years of probation is not enough, and he is not completely locked down with just an ankle bracelet on.

Knightnews.com contacted the UCF Police Department, and it was confirmed that the lion, valued at 900 dollars, is still missing, and a police report has been filed to find the missing statue.

The lion, which sat on the back porch of the ADPi house, has lots of sentimental value to the sorority, being that it was given to them upon the opening of the house.

UCF Police Department Sgt. Troy Williamson is not taking the stolen lion lightly, urging all students with any information pertaining to where the lion is at to call the UCF Police Department.

Osceola County, Florida – Osceola County Sheriff’s detectives concluded a week long, multi-agency, undercover operation which resulted in 40 suspects arrested and charged with soliciting sex from a child via the Internet and other sex and drug related crimes. Led by the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, Operation Red Cheeks was conducted January 8-16, 2012, in conjunction with detectives, officers and special agents of the Central Florida Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.

“The success of this operation was the result of multiple local and state agencies working together in a cooperative effort. Florida Sheriffs and the Florida Sheriff’s Association has taken a strong proactive enforcement position to combat these predators statewide. These predators stalk the cyber community looking for children to victimize. This operation resulted in 40 arrests which means at a minimum, 40 children did not fall prey to a sexual deviant,” stated Sheriff Bob Hansell.

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement worked with Citrus, Lake, Orange, Sumter, Polk, Hardee and Manatee County Sheriff’s Offices and Ocoee, Kissimmee, Sanford, Orlando, Longwood and Casselberry Police Departments. During the operation, undercover detectives from the agencies listed, posed as juveniles or the parent or guardian of a juvenile to talk with individuals in chat rooms and instant messaging programs on the Internet. Suspects would travel to an undercover house or secondary meeting location located in Osceola County with the purpose of having sex with a child. During the chats, most of the suspects sent pornographic images to the undercover detectives and they also brought alcohol, drugs and other items to the meeting. One suspect traveled from Georgia and another was on vacation from Alaska, but most were from cities in Florida. All the suspects were arrested in Osceola County.

The arrests included a head swim coach, a professional golfer on the Senior PGA Tour, an eighth grade teacher, business professionals and consultants and eight college students.

“This operation should also be a warning to all parents to monitor and be involved with their child’s computer activities,” said Sheriff Bob Hansell.
