So, KnightNews.com’s Andrew Stein thought it would be interesting to see what a typical night is like for Knight Library’s Bathroom Boy.

KnightNews.com went backstage at the 17th Annual Celebrity Mascot games to capture exclusive footage of Knightro along with mascots from across the country battling it out – American Gladiator style!

The event is put on to raise money for the New Hope For Kids charity. The program raises money to grant wishes to children with terminal illnesses, and also to help provide support for kids who just lost a loved one.

KnightNews.com’s entertainment reporter Andrew Stein said Knightro was clearly the crowd favorite, according to his vantage point inside the arena.

At one point Knightro hung from the ceiling and swung across the floor with fireworks going off behind him. The crowd went wild.

The mascots put on a great show, and of course, they did it for a great cause. Central Florida Sports Commission President Sam Stark loves hosting it every year.

“It’s a wonderful family event that we host, been hosting it for 17 years,” Stark said. “We bring in mascots from all over the country. This year we have about 28 mascots from the USA and Canada.”

We asked Stark some tough questions, too. Like which mascot he was rooting for.

“Well this year I kinda have uh, there’s one from a local team, the University of Central Florida, Knightro, I always like Knightro,” he said. “And of course,” he added, “as a Rollins guy, with all love to my big school here, I gotta like Tommy the Tar too.”

We even managed to grab an interview with Knightro. He was a man of few words, but showed he was the top mascot through some creative sign language.

At the end of the day, it didn’t really matter who won, Stein reported, because it’s all for the kids.

They’ve raised more than $265,000 since the game’s inception for New Hope For Kids. And that’s something everyone can cheer for.

This past week our team at KnightNews.com headed to downtown Orlando to catch a glimpse of the American Idol auditions at the Amway Arena.

And although we were originally on the hunt for UCF students, we came across some very interesting acts, like a drag queen named “Natasha” Hilton.

Hilton said he tried out for American Idol before, but was denied. He was hoping the drag would get him noticed. We never found out if he made it through, but judge for yourself whether or not he should by watching our video report. (Feel free to share your comments below).

As we continued our search for UCF students, we found louder than life Gospel groups who belted out in harmony for our cameras.

We found a few proud UCF alumni, and we even found a man in a Zorro cape and mask, who had a sultry voice.

But in the enormous crowd of 10,000 people, where were all the UCF students?

Finally, we found a set of UCF twins named Lisa and Gina Gomez. They sang in beautiful harmony, but they didn’t make it.

“It really is luck, and it really depends on what judge you get and what they want,” said Lisa Gomez. “It has nothing to do with talent.”

Because these two other twins before us…they were horrible,” added Gina Gomez. “But they had another judge and they got through. I guess our judged didn’t like twins, I guess it all depends.”

Then we stumbled across UCF Senior Dani McVey with her guitar who sang a beautiful rendition of “Wonderwall” by Oasis.

Sadly, none of the UCF students we met made it to the next round. But we caught up with a few who did, including a young Russian named Anzrey Youshkevich who now lives in New York, but traveled to Orlando in his overalls and “worker style” outift.

“Don’t be nervous,” he said in his thick accent, “if you want to make it, wear overalls!”

American Idol officials wouldn’t let him sing to us, so we don’t know if Youshkevich made it because of his angelic voice, or solely because of his overalls.

So we’ll have to wait until the show debuts in January to see how he did.

KnightNews.com is teaming up with American Idol producers to put on a UCF American Idol viewing party when the season begins, so sign up on the bottom right of your screen for updates regarding that, and we’ll find out together how all the Idol hopefuls we met did in front of Simon Cowell.

Be sure to watch our “Raw Videos” showing more singing and interviews, and our video story showing our hunt for the UCF Idols.

Here at KnightNews.com, we recognize the value of true, hard-hitting news. Well, as we see it, few things are more important than knowing where to go on campus when you need to find a good, clean restroom that is exclusive enough to meet your comfort needs.

We all know what it’s like to be a little bladder shy and find ourselves unable to locate a single-person bathroom, or perhaps the feeling of being in a building notorious for bathrooms that never have soap. The days of wonderment are gone. I, Andrew Stein, have gone undercover on the UCF campus to find the best (and the worst) places to relieve yourself.

Now, you are probably saying to yourself, “I have different bathroom taste than you do, Andrew.” Well, you may be right. But that’s the beauty of our undercover team; not only will I tell you about my findings, but we have exclusive video coverage inside the bathrooms around UCF.

I’ll start by laying some guidelines. I reviewed bathrooms based on a number of criteria: privacy within the bathroom, exclusivity, overall cleanliness, location, and functionality of amenities.

I went into bathrooms all over campus, but I’d like to highlight a few that are worthy of attention.

1. Math and Physics:

As our undercover video shows, this disastrous bathroom was plagued since is inception. Right off the bat, it’s flawed because it is on a different floor than the women’s bathroom. That means you need to separate from your group if you are not all the same gender. Additionally, there is a translucent window on the door of the bathroom, providing a welcoming peepshow to any and all who desire to see inside.

The sink is about as old as the Roman sewage system. The sink is activated by pressing down on an ancient foot pedal, while the water disperses from a circular tube. The experience of washing your hands is very similar to that of pigs feeding on a farm. For the guys, the urinals stick out so far from the wall, you don’t know whether to urinate in them or have a seat on them. On top of that, there are no walls between them, which is disastrous considering how close they are to one another. What do they think, I want to hold the hand of the guy next to me while I do my business? Dear lord.

2. Psychology Building, 3rd Floor

Wow, where do I start?

I’ll begin by explaining a fundamental bathroom theory: The higher the floor, the cleaner and more exclusive a bathroom will be. There is less traffic on the higher floors, leaving a bathroom cleaner and more private. This is an underused building as it is, and being on the 3rd floor makes it like a private penthouse.

The bathroom is inordinately clean, and for the guys, there is only one urinal with solid, high walls on both sides. You have pure privacy, so say goodbye to bladder shyness. And as for the stall, it is spacious, clean and uses a revolutionary plastic material for wall construction.

The sinks provide great pressure, and the bathroom is equipped with the liquid-to-foam hand soap, which smells wonderful. As you leave, you will notice the door is made of wood, which proves luxury at its finest and leaves you with a pleasant last impression.

This is certainly one of the finest bathrooms on campus.

3. Arena,1st Floor

I’ll keep this one brief. The bathroom smells fantastic, as I have likened the scent to that of a Martha Stewart trade show.

The sinks are the best on campus, providing home-style on and off knobs for full control, including a full range of temperature control.

For guys, I would just like to tell you that the architecture is horrible, and this bathroom has the most illogically-placed urinals I have ever seen. (Watch the video to understand what I mean.)

4. John T. Washington Center (Breezeway), Near UCF Federal Credit Union

Based on criteria that I consider valuable, I have rated this as the best bathroom on campus.

First of all, it is the most private bathroom anywhere. Once you go inside, it locks and the entire bathroom is only for one person. If you are bladder shy and need that extra privacy, this is second to none.

Furthermore, there is never a wait since most people do not know this bathroom exists. (This will soon change, however, with the release of this review).

The bathroom is spacious, clean and air conditioned, which makes it incredibly comfortable. Granted, it’s an older bathroom, but do not let the old image get int he way of the modern luxury.

For privacy, exclusivity, cleanliness, and functionality of amenities, this bathroom takes the cake. (A very warm, delicious cake).

Disclaimer: Do not confuse this bathroom with another bathroom on the breezeway across from Chick-Fil-A, which is not as nice.

As you know, I’m an investigator. But it doesn’t exactly take a wire tap and a scope camera lens to have gotten wind of one of the largest and most impactful pieces of news in American history: McDonald’s has releases a one-third pound burger…finally.

I’ve gone into McDonald’s, followed by my camera crew, of course, and consumed the one-third pound burger combo meal. Just as a point of information, there are three different one-third pound burgers, which are all made of angus beef: Bacon and cheese, swiss and mushroom and the deluxe variety.

I decided to chow down on the Deluxe, being that is seemed like the most classic of the three. I could tell by just picking up the tray that it was a hearty burger; McDonald’s means business. Upon opening the burger wrapping and really getting into the sandwich, I noticed something that could potentially change the way many Americans view fast food: there was cheese on both the bottom and top of the beef patty. In the fast food world, this is shocking. Cheese is known as one of those commonly skimped toppings, where it always costs extra to have more. This is one sandwich on where they have clearly spared no expense.

As someone who is knowledgeable of the fast food industry, take it from me: McDonald’s rarely releases new burgers. I feel like it was just yesterday that I sat down and tasted their “Big n’ Tasty” when it made its national debut in 2000. The point is, they are making serious strides for this burger to be successful. Not only are they doubling up on cheese, but they generously put on toppings, including onions, lettuce, tomato, mayonnaise and ketchup.

The burger tastes great, about as good as a burger in any sit-down chain restaurant. When ordered as a combo (with fries and a drink), it’s a lot of food that many people won’t be able to finish. But don’t worry, if you are under 5’10″ and weigh over 250 lbs, you shouldn’t have trouble clearing your plate.

The pros:

Cheap (around $4), Fast, Delicious

The cons:

750 calorie sandwich, greasy

Overall, I would definitely give the sandwich a thumbs up. For right around four bucks for a filling sandwich that is prepared quickly, its the perfect meal for a broke college kid in the go.
