With the exception of Black Friday, Halloween is easily the most terrifying, chaotic day of the year. Even though people probably won’t be trampled in Wal-Mart on October 31, some equally scary stuff can happen. After all, this is the one night a year that you can dress however you want, consume a week’s worth of calories from a pillowcase, carve up a slimy pumpkin, and have a non-stop “Saw” marathon.

If this holiday was a Facebook event, I’m 89% sure it would be filed as “Party – Night of Mayhem,” and those on the “Not Attending” list would have zombies drag them from their computers, never to be seen – or play Farmville – again. Remember, kids: Rule #1 in surviving the zombie apocalypse is cardio!

Graduation. It’s that exciting-but-scary time when you close the Never Ending Story that was high school and open up an entirely new book – a book that likely costs $138 at the campus bookstore. As the semester progresses and mid-terms come to an end, I finally see how completely different my life has become since the days of hall passes, detentions, and lunch periods.

Do I miss it? Sometimes. But that’s only when I wish I could get my professor off-topic with an irrelevant question, convince him that the exam MUST be postponed, and try to sneak an assignment onto his desk a couple days late without consequence.

They aren’t that fun, but whenever Professor McGonagall says it in the Harry Potter movies, they suddenly sound undeniably awesome. This week I talk about the best and worst parts of on-campus living, shot on location at one of UCF’s very own dorms.

Whether you’re living in a residence hall this semester or you’re fortunate enough to live off-campus, the horrors of dorm life have affected every college student in some way. From malfunctioning IntelliKeys to unwelcome visitors, overcrowded laundry rooms to pesky room checks, living on campus is a memorable right of passage into the always crazy world of college.

Hello fellow UCF bros and brodettes!

My name is Emily Bonvini – I’m a proud UCF freshman (“fresh” being the operative word) and KnightNews.com’s official video blogger! Each and every week, I’ll cover a different hard-hitting topic, like Marketplace vs. Knightro’s, the hassles of dorm life, and dealing with dear old Mom and Dad.

This week, I talk about the biggest night in music, the MTV Video Music Awards (no offense to the Grammy’s or anything). It seemed as though the whole world was a-Twitter about all the evening’s events, from the cardiac arrest-inducing New Moon trailer to Beyonce’s diva-licious performance of “Single Ladies.” To quote MTV’s relentless ad campaign, the stars really did align last night – seriously, even Buzz-freaking-Aldrin was there to present an award. Can you dig it? I sure can.
