UCF’s baseball team is enjoying a first place rank outside of the playing field — the highest GPA among all C-USA baseball teams.
On top of that, the Knights already had set two program academic records in 2008-09, according to a UCF Athletics release.
The Knights boast an annual GPA of 3.174.
“I’m extremely proud of the academic efforts of our team this past year,” head coach Terry Rooney said. “We continually talk about succeeding at the highest level both academically and athletically. The foundation for success on and off the field has been laid and this is a tremendous accomplishment for the baseball program.”
With Rooney at the helm of the program, UCF recorded its highest team GPA in the fall with a 3.2. average, according to a UCF Athletics release, which added that the next semester the Knights enjoyed their highest cumulative team GPA at 3.1 in spring.
A total of 23 Knights from last year’s roster received a spot on the C-USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll for having a GPA of 3.0 or better, according to the UCF Atheltics release.
