KnightNews.com has been covering the controversial cuts to UCF football tailgate times that will be in effect this fall.

On Monday night a group of angry alumni showed up demanding answers from administrators about why the cuts were made — and also about why they weren’t included in the process.

Please refer to our related links section on the right to read our previous articles explaining the situation to better understand what is being discussed in the raw videos below.

After you watch them, we encourage you to share your comments below and let us know how it will affect your UCF Gameday — if at all.

Nobody showing up to the first game would just be silly. They need to up the cost of parking on campus on game day and pay for the cops. Some people go to the games just to tailgate and not to watch the game.

Not going to the games is good for nobody. Just join the knigthstail or go to the game at 7 like the facebook group says. Those are better plans, although both will be stopped within minutes I’m sure.

  • UCF Tailgater says:

I love the part where the guy says “Don’t speak for the rest of us”. WAIT, isn’t that what you’ve been doing sir? And why do we need to look at what the rest of Conference USA is doing, do we always have to be followers? Let’s step up and take the lead. Just a thought. I hate to say it but what would they do if NO ONE showed up for the first game? Bet they would resist this decision pretty quickly…

  • to Joan says:

    Joan,

It isn’t just about the drinking. The businesses that are located near the stadium pretty much rely on game day revenue. If you keep them open throughout the day more people are likely to order food. They pay good money to be on campus to lose money. Longer Game days is what keeps them in buisness.

This problem is as simple as raising the cost of parking. They’re pandering to the USF neighbors. And YES the people who are complaining about this are USF alum that live in the neighborhoods next to the stadium.

  • UCF Streaking Squad says:

Some of UCF’s neighbors are USF alum. I know because I’ve met them and they HATE that UCF has a stadium so they complain about anything UCF does.

But I support UCF Streaking protest as long as there are chicks.

  • Lets drink anyways says:

Whatever. Let’s just go there and drink anyways. You know what we should do? Streak. If we streak in unison in protest, it will be leagal since it’s free speach.

UCF STREAK FEST! LETS DO THIS! 10AM! BRING YOUR HOTTEST GIRLS! UP the QUAD and around the Stadium… TWICE!

    Who’s with me?!

  • UCF Tailgator says:

    @Michael
Shit I’m just glad somebody covered this at all, beggars can’t be choosers my friend

  • Michael says:

KnightNews needs to invest in some better audio equipment

  • Laurie says:

Joan, I’m sorry that drinking is the only activity that takes place at your tailgates. Our consist of breakfast, snacks, cornhole tournaments, hanging out with other alumni, students, Knights fans and their families of all ages and backgrounds, snacking, playing card games, tossing footballs, gathering around the TV to catch up on games in progress elsewhere, listening to music, talking sports, drinking, playing dice games, more snacking, cooking, laughing, enjoying the cheerleaders and band members that come around to entertain, eating a big buffet lunch, making plans for attending away games, and then cleaning up in time to be in the stadium in our seats well before kick-off.

  • Joan McCain says:

I am really astounded that there is this much energy and hostility about DRINKING before a football game. How much beer do you have to consume before you watch a game? Good God. Don’t we have better things to do with our time than argue about this? If you need more than 6 hours of drinking before a game, maybe you should not come to campus and go to a sports bar and watch the game there. Because obviously what goes on in the parking lot is more important to you than what goes on in the stadium.

  • TB says:

It is obvious that Harms was poorly prepared for this meeting with the way he was talking in circles and contradicting himself. To me he comes off sounding completely RIDICULOUS!!!! It is the people on that powerpoint slide, supposedly those making the decisions, that are ruining all the progress that we have made since 2005 and setting us back in our growth and full potential. It goes so beyond just this new tailgating rule too.

  • Jay says:

Oh, I think we can all act like civilized adults. Isn’t that right, Mr. Poopy Pants?

  • Matt says:

UCF stands for drinking and driving, good job ucf

  • Josh says:

Why hasn’t our “terrific” sga president stood up and come out with a statement about this issue. Anyone know where he stands?
