Daddy’s home! Make that step-daddy. You thought it was safe to play the dating game? Thought you found the man of your dreams? Think again, if he seems to good to be true, he probably is. In this remake of the 1987 original, director Nelson McCormick brings all of the same scares, thrills and suspense. Gossip Girl’s own sexy star Penn Badgley graces the screen, but hold on to your keypads, he’s got bigger problems then the latest upper eastside party scene.
When Michael Harding (Penn Badgley) returns home from military school, he is obviously troubled from his sketchy past, but even more so by the new man in the house. It seems his mother Susan (Sela Ward) has fallen head over heels for Mr. Family Man, David (Dylan Walsh). It becomes Michael’s mission to prove to everyone that David is not who he says, and save his family from becoming this mysterious murder’s next kill.
This suspense thriller had a few good scares and an action sequence that would put anyone on the edge of their seats and biting their nails. However, for the most part, the story was weak and very predictable. The movie portrays a disturbing ease of murder. It was an incredibly average, run-of-the-mill horror flick, complete with cheap thrills and bikini shots.
