Taylor Young led the way for the Knights with 15 points, and Isaac Sosa chipped in with 14 to send the 5,216 UCF fans in attendance home happy. Freshmen Keith Clanton and David Diakite each had their first career double-doubles to lead the Knights front court which held a 39 to 31 rebounding advantage.

Diakite, who was playing against his hometown team in Howard, had 10 points and a game high 11 rebounds. He also chipped in one big blocked shot and had a thundering slam to ignite the Knights mid-way through the first half.

Howard was led by guard Calvin Thompson’s 15 points. The Bisons pulled within six points with 11 seconds to go, but it was too little too late and UCF was able to slam the door closed with late free throws to finish Howard off.

Marcus Jordan was quiet in limited action, finishing with three rebounds and one steal in 13 minutes.

The Knights’ next game will be in tournament play at Daytona, FL against Auburn on Friday. UCF will return to Orlando after the tournament to play Albany on November 28th.
