Whether you’re new to the UCF area or an old timer looking to abandon the usual hangout and expand your horizons, this comprehensive review of all the most popular local bars can help you decide which best fits the mood you’re in and the atmosphere you’re looking for.

Scoop: Currently undergoing improvements for a new opening, Scoop features both a front and a back room with two separate DJs, offering two environments for the price of one. The activities at Scoop are endless, from socializing at the bars or daringly spinning the infamous “wheel of chance” to dancing all night on the spacious dance floor. On “power hour” Wednesdays featuring a shot of beer every minute, and free drinks all night Mondays, Scoop is often the liveliest place around UCF, packed from wall to wall with people. The grand opening of the new and improved Scoop will be at the beginning of Summer session B, featuring tons of new amenities such as better bathrooms, outside hookahs, thirty new TVs, and more bars and bartenders so that getting drinks will be a cinch. Clearly, the new Scoop will reopen in all of its original glory plus a little more class.

Knight Library: Library is the classic college hangout not only because of its convenient location directly across from campus but also because of its laid back atmosphere which is more that of a house party than an actual bar. Its spaciousness and never too loud music provide for the perfect environment to socialize with current friends and meet new ones at the same time. Library’s famous Cinco de Mayo and St. Patty’s day block parties are the biggest and wildest rumpuses of the year and should be added to every UCF student’s must do list.

Devaney’s Too: A typical southern sports bar, Devaney’s is a great spot to kick back and watch the game over a cold beer and some great appetizers. Complete with video games, comfortable booth seating and ample tables available for beer pong, Devaney’s offers something for those who want to not only watch the game but participate in games of their own. Always featuring ridiculously good specials, by night Devaney’s is one of the most popular hangouts in the UCF area.

TDs Sports Bar and Grill: Founded in the building of a vacant Don Pablo’s, TDs is the largest bar in the UCF area. Boasting a full length bar complete with a uniquely eye catching water wall, TDs also offers an extensive menu with a kitchen that’s open all night. Decked with booths lining the entire side of the room and ample tables open for all kinds of drinking games, TDs serves a wide range of people promising a suitable crowd on any night you go.

Deko: Founded by the same owners as scoop, Deko is a more upscale bar strategically located on the site of an abandoned movie theatre. Deko’s high energy dance mixes and sleek décor contribute to a vibe comparable to a nightclub in Miami. Whether its breaking it down on the dance floor, relaxing on the spacious patio with a hookah or classing it up in the VIP section, Deko is the place to be for a real nightlife experience just around the corner from UCF.

FUBAR: Located in the same plaza as Deko lounge and Knight library, this local sports bar is a restaurant by day and an outrageous party by night that lives up to its name. Fubar’s crave worthy hamburgers and daily happy hour from 4-9 pm tempt those looking for a break from daytime stresses. Set to the soundtrack of some of the latest popular music, at night Fubar transforms into a party with a full size bar guaranteeing a good time.

Dungeon: Walking into Dungeon Lounge is like being transported back in time to a room from the Middle Ages that’s more chic than the one we read about in our history books. Complete with stone gargoyles and chain link hanging lights, Dungeon is reminiscent of Deko in its upscale décor but different in that it is less of a nightclub and more of a hangout. Dungeon attracts an older more professional crowd but also manages to tempt the average college student looking for a more classy night out. Not only is the atmosphere more upscale than the average UCF bar, but the menu complete with fresh bruschetta and shrimp cocktails is a step up from the classic sports bar hamburger and fry options as well. Also offering a wide range of fine wines and mixed drinks, partygoers at Dungeon Lounge are guaranteed to eat and drink like true medieval kings and queens. In the music category, Dungeon offers both guest DJs and great live music depending on the day and time of night. Open Thursday through Saturday the best deal at Dungeon is Saturday night two for one cover allowing guests to access both Dungeon and its next door neighbor bar, Knight Library, for the cost of one entrance fee. Don’t miss out on this sophisticated nightlife experience unique from any other UCF bar or club.
