As many UCF students know, football season has started. What they might not know is that there is a new way to enjoy the sport, right here on campus– the Lingerie Football League.
The Orlando Fantasy is one of the newest teams to join the ranks of the Lingerie Football League (LFL), and will be playing their home games at the UCF Arena for the 2010 season.
The LFL is a seven-on-seven full contact tackle football league, with each of the 14 active players being as beautiful as they are athletic. Which is a plus, seeing as they compete wearing lingerie.

The rules of the game are pretty close to the NFL, with a few key modifications. The field is only 50 yards, not including the 8 yard end-zones, and the game is played in two 17 minute halves, with an 8 minute sudden death overtime if necessary. There are no punts or field goals, so after scoring a 6 point touchdown, a team can elect to attempt a 2 yard, 1 point conversion, or a 5 yard, 2 point conversion. As for the personnel, on offense, you’ll see a quarterback, two running backs, one down-linewoman, and three wide receivers. The defense is composed of two down-linewomen, two line backers, two cornerbacks and one safety.

The first home game for the Orlando Fantasy is this Friday at the UCF Arena, when we play host to our I-4 rivals, the Tampa Breeze. Last year, the Tampa Breeze sent more players to the All-Fantasy Game (similar to the NFL’s Probowl) than any other team in the Eastern conference, and are viewed as the odds on favorites to win the Lingerie Bowl.

Meanwhile, the Orlando Fantasy are ranked in last place, but they are, for the most part, an untested team of enthusiastic young women; some with competitive football experience. For instance, Veronica Moor, the Fantasy’s starting QB, brings 8 years of quarterbacking experience in a league dominated by the pass game. The Fantasy’s most athletic running back, Lindsay Alfano, has just about as much experience as an outlet receiver for Moor in the same league. That kind of longevity is unparalleled by any other QB-WR tandem in the LFL.
Kickoff is scheduled for 9 PM, but feel free to get to the arena early for some free tailgating, which will take place inside the UCF Arena lobby.
