Coaches Poll Ranks UCF, FSU as Top 25 Football Teams
Football, News, Sports — By Staff on November 28, 2010 at 1:17 pmFor the second time in history, the UCF Knights are once again ranked as a Top 25 football team.
After defeating Memphis Saturday, the USA Today Coaches Poll released today puts the Knights as No. 25. The Knights join Florida State University as the only other Florida team that is ranked.
FSU is ranked No. 20 after defeating rival UF in Tallahassee Saturday for the first time since 2003. The Knights’ rival, the USF Bulls, received one vote after defeating the University of Miami Saturday. This marks the second time this season the Knights have been nationally ranked when USF is not.
In the past, Bulls fans have said they are “too good” to play the Knights, and USF leaders pulled the plug on a yearly match up dubbed the “War on I-4.” Earlier this season, UCF beat USF in basketball and soccer, giving more firepower to UCF fans arguing the Knights are ready for a spot in the Big East, along with USF.

USF doesnt even have their own stadium…
they dont even take down all the buccaneers stuff. if you guys were so “established” why do you play home games in someone elses stadium? i know usf has the space, considering the lack of classroom buildings or anything else aesthetically appealing on that community college campus.
Hilarious that you would quote bleacher report as a credible source for commentary… The sites writers are fans, anyone can write whatever they want and post it there.
Fact of the matter is the big east is awful this year, so I’m not entirely sure why you think USF played such superior competition…

Funny how she brags about all the bowl games USF has gone to when no matter how good or bad they do USF is automatically put in a bowl game.
It’s actually humorous because every team in the Big East aside from, well, USF hates the school and wants them out.
Check any comments and boards about the Big East. Everyone in there considers USF to be a huge joke and waste of time.
USF played UCF in basketball and lost. Same with soccer.
UCF is ranked, USF is not.

“Central Florida is ranked 25th in the coaches poll, and I’m not exactly sure why.
The Knights are 9-3 and have put a hurting on some of their opponents this year, but UCF lost to NC State, Kansas State and Southern Miss. And this is the 25th best team in the country? I don’t think so. I know they have put up some gaudy numbers, but c’mon.
Looking at box scores and records don’t mean anything. UCF is not worthy of being in the polls.”
USF is just jealous that the only thing their campus has going for them is their football team. Thus the reason why they’re trash talking is that their team isn’t doing well. UCF however, we love our team win or lose. We don’t trash talk cause we actually focus on our school.
And don’t compare campuses. UCF > USF in almost any category you can think off: academics, people, sports, living environments, job opportunities etc…
And on Tony Soprano’s last remark: my only comment is that your only saying that cause you were rejected from FSU or UF and settled with USF….sorry for your bad decisions from high school

It’s true. UCF’s football team is as old as the NBA’s three point shot and they’ve never won a bowl game. The ranking doesn’t mean anything considering the non-BCS conference cupcakes they weren’t tested against.
The fact that this little news story talked so much about USF when it had nothing to do with UCF’s ranking shows how the badly the Knights are living in the Bulls shadow.
It’s okay though UCF fans, there’s other things to do in life besides pretending your school is on the same level as USF.
Like, for instance, making sure your kids don’t make the same mistake you did by choosing UCF.

You know why I respect these nation poll rankings more than you smack talk is that when it comes down to it YOU do not have any credibility or respect for the game. Fine you can have your wins and stats but all that matters is that you play well. Well enough for the nation to see how good of a team you are no matter what kind of team you are playing. Good teams makes mistakes and “bad” teams sometimes shine…
So shut up and get off the paper of the UCF Knights and go back to “bull” country…

Congrat’s to the Bulls on their 6th Consecutive Bowl game playing in a BCS Conf. Congrat’s on taking down the second of the big three in Florida not to mention the 4 wins over UCF (64-12).
UCF stats look nice when you play the worst teams in the Country, then a bowl game and woops reality. Congrat’s on our 3rd bowl game in 37 years and how many wins? hmmm zero.
