The second annual UCF Knights student dunk contest took place Tuesday evening. Whereas last year the competition was located in Ferrell Commons, this time around the high flying students brought their jaw dropping dunks to the significantly more spacious Venue.

Once again, Campus Crusade for Christ did an exceptional job orchestrating the competition as they had two DJs on site, the always charismatic Mike O’Donnell emceeing the contest, and numerous enthusiastic volunteers greeting fans as they entered the venue. Also, much like last year, the UCF men’s basketball team was on hand to judge the competition, providing entertaining commentary dunk by dunk.

The contest was comprised of eight of the finest dunkers UCF has to offer. Three rounds of dunks took place keeping the Venue abuzz, with an extra dunk-off at the end of the competition to determine the winner.

The competitors kept fans on the edge of their seats for the majority of the contest as they made numerous highlight reel dunks. Daniel White amplified the crowd when he rocked-the-cradle on a Jordanesque dunk. Zac Stites continually amazed the crowd with each dunk. He started the competition on a creative note as he did something most cannot fathom. Stites propped a trampoline in front of the rim making most assume that the not too tall competitor was going to use it to assist himself with a dunk. Instead, he proved to the crowd the ground was his trampoline as he catapulted his way to the rim, leaping over the trampoline, caught an alley-oop, jammed the ball, and caused a number of onlookers to change their prediction of who they thought the competition’s winner was going to be. The winners of UCF’s second annual student dunk contest were:

2nd- Daniel White ($60 prize)
1st- Zac Stites ($200 prize)
