You can now put your usual designated driver on hold– an all-new late night safe driving system is finally coming to UCF.
The much-anticipated KnightLynx program is set to launch this Friday, January 28, 2011. KnightLynx is a free bus transportation system that offers students rides on Friday and Saturday nights. The bus service will begin at 8 p.m. running until 3 a.m.
Kayla Torpey, SGA Public Relations Specialist, said “KnightLynx was created with the main goal of providing UCF students with a safe and reliable form of late night transportation. Since the UCF Community is so unique, our goal was to find a transportation program that could adapt to our campus life and structure.”
All UCF students are eligible to ride this bus system upon presenting their valid UCF identification cards (non-UCF students can use the bus service by paying a small fee). Torpey says that she hopes this program will give students a safe, free transportation alternative.
KnightLynx will be stopping on campus as well as several apartment complexes such as Northgate Lakes, Tivoli Apartments, and Pegasus Landing. In addition the bus will also make stops at shopping centers throughout Alafaya Trail.
KnightLynx will begin with four busses, two traveling consistently along the two designated routes, however, they are optimistic about future expansion.
