If you have friends at the University of Florida in Gainesville, tell them to watch out. UF just issued an alert over twitter regarding an armed assault on UF sorority row.
According to UF’s twitter page, a light skinned black male — carrying a knife — committed an armed assault around 10:08 p.m. on UF sorority row, near SW 5th Street and SW 12th Street.
The UF alert did not elaborate on what type of assault occurred, or provide further details other than that the suspect is to be considered dangerous, was wearing a black mask, brown shirt and shorts, stands 5’8 to 5’9 and has a raspy voice.
UF said further updates will come as they are available, and they provided this number for UFPD for anyone with information to call: 352-392-1111.
Update 1:30 a.m. – UF sent out a new tweet stating UPD has increased patrols on the nearby campus while Gainesville police handle the armed assault at 1200 SW 5th Ave. The alert stated that anybody with info should call local police.
