UPDATE Tuesday morning reports show Tropical Storm Chantal with winds of 50 mph as it moves West-North-West at 26 mph. The storm has shifted further east of Florida but remains underwatch.
Chantal now is predicted to remain a tropical storm as it moves east of Florida.
Computer models for Tropical Storm Chantal are showing South Florida inside the storm’s cone as it heads West, moving 26 mph.
As of early Monday, the storm was producing maximum sustained winds of 40 mph as it moves quickly to the Lesser Antilles. The storm is expected to reach the general area of South Florida later in the week.
A tropical storm warning has been issued for Barbados, Dominica, St. Lucia, Martinique and Guadeloupe. A tropical storm watch is in effect for St. Vincent.
