The Orange County Sheriff’s Office reports that it has evacuated a building on the Florida Technical College campus near UCF because of a phone call about a “dangerous device.”
Orange County Fire Rescue originally dispatched a hazmat team in response to a suspicious package near the college at 12900 Challenger Parkway.
Early reports about deputies’ search, however, turned up no evidence of a device, according to Sheriff’s Office spokesman Jeff Williamson.
A bomb squad has been sent to the campus to investigate the threat.
Traffic in the area was backed up due to the investigation.
