UCF decimated the No. 25 Miami Hurricanes on Tuesday night, leaving South Beach with a 9-2 victory.

The Hurricanes mustered a run early in the third and again in the seventh against starter Tanner Olson, but could not figure the righty out for the most part. Olson tuned in for his most impressive outing of the season with four strikeouts, only four hits allowed and no walks given up over eight strong innings.

Olson challenged the Miami hitters with his command, locating within the zone all night and inducing consistent outs and short innings; he needed only 104 pitches over the 8.0 innings – averaging just 13 an inning. Of the 104 pitches he threw, 71 were strikes.

Dylan Moore and Erik Barber backed Olson’s gem with a pair of RBIs each. Moore had the better night, collecting four hits and no strikeouts in six at bats while Barber took full advantage of his one hit to drive in the two runs. Moore tagged all four bags for two runs of his own, as well.

Trent Thompson closed out the game with no protest from the Hurricane offense, striking out one and allowing no base runners in his inning of work.

The Knights return home next for a three game series against Cincinnati to kick off conference play. Friday’s game will is scheduled for a 6:30 pm start time.
