The Knight’s season ended Thursday night in Memphis, losing 61-58 to top seeded Cincinnati.

A night after taking Temple deep into double overtime to advance to the quarter final, UCF left everything they had on the court, making serious trouble for the Bearcats all night. Never was there a point where the Knights looked remotely as overwhelmed as they had for the majority of the season.

Isiah Sykes felt the loss especially hard after he was unable to finish the last few minutes due to injury. Sykes led the team with 21 points and 9 rebounds.

UCF’s 37.7 field goal percentage was not nearly enough to keep up with Cincinnati’s 45.8 %.

The loss concludes a somewhat disappointing transition to the American Athletic Conference for the Knights, who went 4-15 in conference play and 13-18 overall. UCF finished only ahead of USF in the rankings; the Bulls were dead last.

South Florida Head Coach Stan Heath was fired Friday afternoon.
