Since UCF went down to Miami on March 19 and upset the then ranked No. 25 Hurricanes, the Knights have been on an absolute tear – winning 10 of 11 and standing atop the American with an 8-1 conference record.

It is fitting then, that in the days precluding a highly anticipated UCF-UM vengeance game in Orlando that two Knights’ starters – Tommy Williams and Eric Skoglund – were honored with the American Athletic Conference Player and Pitcher of the week, respectively.

Tommy Williams took the Bulls deep three times this weekend, going 4-12 with 3 homeruns, and 5 RBIs – including a two homer game on Sunday. He now leads the American with 9 dingers, and UCF with a .492 slugging percentage. He has also accumulated 25 RBIs with a .234 bating average.

Skoglund turned in another ace-quality start for the Knights on Friday night.  He went 8.0 innings strong to extend his season to 59 innings pitched, struck out 8, walked two and refused to give up a single run. It was the major difference in a 2-0 pitcher’s duel that UCF fought tooth and nail for. Skoglund is 5-0 on the season with a 1.83 ERA and AAC leading 50 strikeouts.

The Hurricanes arrive on Wednesday night, scheduled for a 6:30 pm start.
