The Orlando Shakes, a UCF-partnered classical professional theater group, surprised shoppers at Mall at Millenia with a “Les Miserables” flash mob to garner buzz for their upcoming show.

The flash mob video then made an appearance on The Today Show on Monday for their perfectly executed performance.

Michael Hunsaker, the lead actor of the production, started off by signing “One More Day” in everyday clothes, shocking the mall-goers. He was then joined by other members of the Orlando Shakes, carrying everything from iced coffees to shopping bags and one cast member was in rollerblades.

Since UCF and the Orlando Shakes have partnered up, UCF faculty have worked at the theater as actors, directors and designers. Third-year MFA students in the acting program at UCF also spend their final year at Orlando Shakes in preparation for their professional careers.

The Orlando Shakes are currently selling tickets for “Les Miserables” which runs from Sept. 12-Oct. 12 at the Lowndes Shakespeare Center. Tickets range anywhere from $22-$55. To get tickets call 407-447-1700 or go to orlandoshakes.org.
