A rainy afternoon in St. Petersburg cancelled many of the activities scheduled for Wednesday’s Beach Bash at Madeira Beach but events will continue tomorrow on Christmas day.

Both teams had lunch at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. in John’s Pass Village & Boardwalk Wednesday afternoon, however, inclimate weather cancelled planned activities on the beach including head-to-head contests, a belly flop contest and other talent contests.

Christmas Day events include a Battle of the Bands between the bands of NC State and UCF. The event starts at 2:30 p.m. and continues until 5:00 p.m. Immediately following that event is a Bowl Block Party at Ferg’s Sports Bar.

Both teams had a chance to practice Wednesday, leading up to Friday’s Bitcoin Bowl game. UCF Head Coach George O’Leary says the team will have work to do to contain NC State’s quarterback.

“I think they are a solid football team, UCF Head Coach George O’Leary said. “Obviously the quarterback on offense is doing a lot more with his feet than he had in the beginning of the year. We’ll have to work and make sure we execute what we’re supposed to do, I worry more about our team then anybody else.”

The Bitcoin St. Petersburg Bowl game will take place Friday, Dec. 26 at 8:00 p.m. at Tropicana Field. KnightNews.com has a team covering the events throughout the week and during the game. Keep checking back for updates!
