The 10,000-square-foot East Side Club that is going to serve beer, frozen drinks and cocktails is expected to be ready by the Sept. 5 kickoff against FIU.

Memberships to the East Side Club will start at $900 per person for a full season pass. The membership will include access to chair-back stadium seating, 15 televisions, Gold Zone parking and private restrooms.

Board of Trustee’s Meeting Wrap-up:

  • UCF’s proposal for its downtown ‘type 1’ campus was also passed, unanimously. The type-1 campus means that it will be a degree-awarding opportunity for over 2,000 students. Phase 1 of the downtown campus project will cost $57.8 million and is set to begin this year. Next on the agenda, Provost Dale Whittaker said the board was asked to provide more information at the Feb. 19 meeting with the Florida Board of Governors at Tallahassee on the academic impact to students and programs, the scope and cost of the project, the return on investment for the state and tax payers of this downtown project.
  • Phyllis Klock, from UCF’s Presidential Selection Plan board, explained the process of presidential succession, and its need for a more periodic review. Although they need a blueprint to follow when that process does come into play, Klock said the most important aspect of attracting the best pool of candidates is having the board in agreement about what the critical success factors are prior to the start of any candidate searches.
  • A moment of silence was asked to honor former President Colbourn, who passed earlier this month. President Hitt expressed his deepest condolences and invited everyone to the service at All Saint’s Episcopal Church on February 2, 2015.
