Tornados may affect the Orlando area by Monday, according a weather report sent by the University of Central Florida’s Office of Emergency Management.

“As of 1300 HRS on Friday, August 28th, 2015, Tropical Storm Erika was located 1121 miles from East Central Florida, with forward motion to the west-northwest at 18 mph and wind speeds at 50 mph,” the report states.

Tropical Storm Erika is not a well structured storm, however, it has the potential to strengthen as it approaches Central Florida.

The university will continue to monitor the storm and will update students if classes will be canceled due to severe weather.
