Just days away from the MAC championship, Head Coach Dino Babers has insisted that he has not shifted focus away from Bowling Green State University – despite the firestorm of rumors that has been selected as the next face of UCF football.
“I have not signed anything. I am not going anywhere, okay. I have no secret deals, no above deals, no verbal deals,” Babers said in response to the rumors according to Thomas Schmeltz of the Sentinel-Tribune.
With post-season play so close the coach doesn’t want to set the focus on anything other than getting his players through the next game, repeatedly denying any confirmation of moving on to his next team.
“I’ve turned down jobs because I want to play in the MAC championship game. I’ve lost jobs because I want to play in the MAC championship,” he continued.
Babers is considered a hot commodity in a market suddenly filled with top tier coaching positions and the speculation has run wild since the story was first leaked on Sunday evening. That evening the coach took to twitter to clear up the situation himself.
“The rumors about me accepting a job at UCF are not true. I am focused on @BG_Football and winning a MAC Championship Friday night,” he tweeted.

It has not been cleared up what decisions lie ahead for Babers after the championship, but nothing has been ruled out, either.
