Orlando, Fla. – It was a block party for the knights against the FAU Owls, they blocked a total of eight shots; Freshman Tacko Fall led the way with six blocks.

“He probably could of had 10 block shots,” said UCF head Coach Donnie Jones. “His presence in there obviously changes the game, especially in the zone and that’s why that zone is real effective a lot of times for us.”

The Knights’ defense were stiffening tonight, only allowing 36.8 percent shooting from the field and 27.8 percent from the three-point line.

“Just got off to a cold start offensively, but defensively I was proud that we kept ourselves in the game by defending and rebounding,” said Jones.

“I’m most pleased with our rebounding and obviously our defense,” added Jones. “We held them to 30 something percent from the field and 20 something percent from the three-point line. That’s kind of been what it is every game. We held them to 61 tonight again. So defensively, it’s given us a chance to win every night.”

Defense has been a strong point for UCF this season; coming into tonight’s game versus FAU, the Knights were allowing 36.6 percent shooting from the field, which ranks 20th in the NCAA.

“I think it’s our defense right now,” said UCF sophomore Adonys Henriquez, in regards to what’s the team’s strong point. “I think we’re getting a lot of stops.”
