Football is back… almost.
The American Athletic Conference football media days kicked off on Monday in Newport, Rhode Island. Coaches and players from all twelve of the conference’s teams gathered to talk about the upcoming football season.
In particular, Scott Frost will lead discussion on a new era of UCF football as he and the Knights gear up to take the gridiron in September. Frost’s takes control of Knight’s football as head coach in the 2016-17 season for the first time at UCF after leaving the offensive coordinator position at the University of Oregon. Frost looks to bring the Knights back from a no-win season in his inaugural year as head coach. Despite the setbacks faced in the 2015-16 season, Frost has pulled in 20 three star recruits – the most in program history.
The Knights plan to show off a fast-paced offense in their five televised games this year, along with new Nike uniforms released by the Athletics Department this summer.
Group photos of coaches and student-athletes will take place first thing Tuesday morning, followed by an introduction from American Athletic Conference Commissioner Mike Aresco. A two-hour round table discussion featuring the West Division and East Division will follow Aresco’s introduction, then leading to break-out sessions with coaches from across the conference.
