The Veteran’s Academic Resource Center – built into the side of CFE Arena – hosted the donation event today, the first day of finals for the remaining summer enrollment terms.

School supply bags, topped off with notebooks, writing utensils, folders, and more, went to student veterans in need of supplies during their time at the university. University of Central Florida students Lauren Acquino, Alexi Minnick, and Sarah Perales led the donation of 98 school supply bags with hopes that the bags would be well-received at this time in the semester -an often stressful time for those that lack the supplies to focus solely on studying for exams.

A motivation to providing for the student veterans at UCF comes by need to receive the tools necessary to succeed once opportunities have been given to individuals outside of the military. For active duty soldiers-turned-students that sustained physical and mental injuries, donations keep academic morale high knowing that a career path won’t be taken alone.

The Veteran’s Academic Resource Center (VARC) serves as a “one-stop solution” to needs as a student veteran at UCF, with special tutoring, campus resources, study and lounge spaces, and access to university offices provided year-round.

Each goodie bag had a one subject notebook, mechanical pencil, ballpoint pen, highlighter, and folder with a thank-you note.
