UCF Basketball Head Coach Johnny Dawkins announced the signing of University of Pittsburgh transfer Ithiel Horton. Horton has joined recent transfers Brandon Suggs, Lahat Thioune and Michael Durr as the fourth addition to the UCF Men’s Basketball team in the past 24 hours for the 2022-23 season.

Horton played in 35 games and started 26 games in the past two seasons at Pitt. In the 2021-22 season, Horton averaged 9.8 points and 2.7 rebounds per game in 13 appearances. Horton also was efficient behind the arc shooting 36.1 percent going 25-66 from three-point range.

Dawkins believes the 6-foot-5 guard’s playmaking ability on offense will prove to be a key asset heading into next season.

“We’re very excited to welcome Ithiel to our UCF Family. He’s a talented player with a ton of potential, and we believe that he’ll be able to take a lot of things he learned at Pitt and apply them here with us from day one,” said Dawkins. “Ithiel’s ability to drain it from beyond the arc, combined with his athleticism and agility, will add an extra dimension to our team, and we’re looking forward to getting him in the building as soon as possible.”

Before playing for the Panthers in 2019, Horton played for Delaware where he was named to the Colonial Athletic Association All-Rookie Team and CAA Academic Honor Roll.

During his Career, Horton has played 68 games and has started 49 games in his time with the Panthers and Blue Hens. He has averaged 11.6 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game with career 40.5 percent field goal percentage and shot 39.2 percent from beyond the arc.
