The UCF softball team ended their 2022 season losing to Oklahoma 7-1 in game 2 of the Super Regional series.
Filling up all the bases in the first inning, utility Sooners player Alyssa Brito was able to hit a single, leaving the Sooners with a 1-0 lead by the end of the first.
The action on the field picked up again in the third inning. Sooners infielder Grace Lyons hit a homerun to left field advancing her team to a 2-0 lead.
The next and final Oklahoma homerun was in the fifth inning. Sooner player Jana Jones hit a homer down center to help her team take a jumping 6-0 lead.
Sophomore Jada Cody for the Knights followed suit in the next inning. Cody hit a homerun, the first homerun at the NCAA Super Regionals in Knights program history.
The Knights were unable to pick up a strong momentum leaving the final score at 7-1.
“I’m proud of our team, what they’ve done and how hard they fought this year for our program to get us right back where we ended up last year and a little bit more,” head coach Cindy Ball-Malone said.
