Traveling to Tampa just got a little bit easier.
The U.S. Department of Transportation Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvements Program allotted a $15,875,000 grant for a Brightline extension connecting Orlando International Airport to Tampa.
The money is set to help fund preliminary engineering activities and environmental approvals that are needed to build the rail system.
In addition, a stop at Disney Springs will also be added on the route.
The project has a total funding of $31,750,000.
There is currently no expected opening date.
