We’ve been covering the murder of Adam Simjee in Talladega National Forest since the tragic crime happened last year. As you may remember Adam Simjee and his girlfriend, another UCF student, stopped to help a stranded motorist — but turns out it was a trap setup to rob the good Samaritans, according to investigators.  Adam tragically lost his life in a shootout with the woman pretending to need help.

That woman, Yasmine Hider, had accepted a plea deal for 35 years, for shooting Adam, as we told you last month.  Since then, not only did Yasmine appear before a judge to formally enter her guilty plea — but she also testified against her accomplice in a separate trial!

The accomplice, Krystal Pinkins, was found guilty in a federal court of murder and other charges and will be sentenced in January.  According to the US Attorneys office Pinkins provided the gun used to kill Simjee and helped plan the robbery.

As officers were arresting her, Pinkins’ 5-year-old son ran from the woods with a loaded shotgun, but didn’t fire, according to the AP.  The child was taken by child welfare workers.
