Conservative political activist Charlie Kirk, 31, was shot in the neck while on stage at his “American Comeback tour” at Utah Valley University on Wednesday, September 10, 2025.
The shooting occurred around noon as the event began, and his death was announced by President Donald Trump via TruthSocial at approximately 4:40 PM, EST.

He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you!”

Kirk, who was a well-known conservative political figure, rose to fame when he foundedTurning Point USA, a conservative organization who regularly appeared on college campuses and debated with students about various political beliefs and issues.
Kirk spoke to UCF students when he appeared in 2018, and also appeared at UCF in 2023, on his “Live Free Tour”.
Shortly after the shots were fired in Utah, authorities arrested a person of interest, who is not confirmed to be the perpetrator at this time.
At 5:02 PM EST, President Trump ordered on his TruthSocial account to lower all American flags to half-mast until Sunday evening at 6 P.M., in remembrance of Charlie Kirk.
