Orlando City SC has just made a major statement in the transfer market, signing Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid.

The French forward will join the club as a Designated Player in July, following the conclusion of the Spanish season. He is set to sign a contract running through the 2027-2028 campaign, with an option for an additional year.

Griezmann joins MLS after building a legendary career in Spain, where he made his mark for Atletico Madrid, FC Barcelona, and Real Sociedad. Across his professional career, he bagged a total of 298 goals and 132 assists in 792 appearances, establishing himself as one of the most consistent and well-rounded players of his generation.

At the international level, Griezmann was a vital piece for the France national team, earning 137 caps while contributing 44 goals and 38 assists. He played a key role in France’s triumph at the 2018 FIFA World Cup and their runner-up finish in 2022 before retiring from international play in 2024.

Despite entering the later stages of his career, the 35-year-old remains productive at the highest level, contributing 13 goals this season for Atlético Madrid as they continue competing both in Spain and Europe.

His move to Orlando represents a monumental moment for both the club and Major League Soccer, reinforcing Orlando City’s hopes to remain competitive at a championship level while adding global pedigree and experience to the roster
