The University of Central Florida continues to dominate college football headlines as rumors swirl about their potential invite to the Big East Conference. At this point, no formal invite has been extended as the Big East continues to work out issues with raising exit fees.
In addition, the UCF basketball season is less than two weeks from starting with the excitement being high after last year’s 20-win campaign.

Here is what is going down in UCF sports this week:
Football
The Knights are coming off of another tough loss, a 38-17 loss to Southern Methodist, in which the UCF defense was uncharacteristically torn apart. It was the Knights first conference loss of the season and first loss to SMU. Jeff Godfrey threw for over 200 yards in the air, but the Knights continue to struggle with red zone offense.
UCF will look to rebound in a Thursday night game against the 0-6 UAB Blazers on the road. This will be a nationally televised game, and a good shot for the Knights to get some redemption after losing three out of their four games.
Men’s Soccer
The UCF soccer team, who were ranked No. 6, suffered just their second loss of the season. The Knights fell 1-0 to host UAB in Conference USA play. It was the Knights (8-2-2, 2-1-1 C-USA) first conference loss of the year.
UCF will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 22 at 7 p.m. at the UCF Soccer Complex against Tulsa.
Women’s Soccer
The No. 23 UCF women’s soccer team (9-2-5, 4-1-3 C-USA) played to a scoreless draw against Houston on Sunday. UCF senior goalkeeper Aline Reis made eight saves. Reis was also nominated for the Senior Award- check out KnightNews article on her.
The women’s soccer team has no lost in seven straight games.
The Knights will return to action Friday when they host UAB at 7 p.m. at the UCF Soccer Complex.
Men’s Tennis
The Knights men’s tennis team did not have any games in the past week. They get back to action Thursday in the ITA Regionals in Athens, GA.
Women’s Tennis
The women’s tennis team also didn’t have any matches in the past week because of cancellations due to weather. They return to action Friday in the ITA Regionals in Gainesville.
Men’s Golf
The golf team returns to action after a long break in the Isleworth Collegiate Invitational in Windermere.
Women’s Golf
After a long layoff, the Knights women’s golf team will return to action Oct. 30 in the Alamo Invitational in San Antonio, Texas.
Women’s Volleyball
The Knights finished up their weekend road trip with a 1-1 split. They beat Rice to start the weekend, and then lost to Houston 3-1 in a four-set match.
The UCF volleyball team has a record of 12-8 on the year and 4-5 in Conference USA play.
The Knights return home to take on Tulane Friday night at 7 p.m.
