Former U.S. President Bill Clinton spoke to a crowd of thousands of graduates and their families during one of the University of Central Florida’s commencement ceremonies which took place Thursday afternoon.
Receiving a standing ovation upon his entrance from graduates of UCF’s College of Health and Public Affairs and the College of Medicine’s Burnett School of Biomedical Sciences, Clinton greeted the arena by saying just how much he loved the school.
“I love this place…it’s big, diverse, energetic and focued on the future,” Clinton said.
Clinton went on to speak about the importance of working as a community towards a common good as well as the economic impact of places such as UCF and Orlando. At the end of his address, Clinton left the new graduates with a word of advice into their futures.
“My advice — do what makes you happy,” Clinton said to the nearly 1,600 graduates in the crowd. “I hope you will do well. I hope you will do good. I hope you will have a good time doing it.”
UCF President John C. Hitt also awarded Clinton an honorary doctorate of humane letters from UCF for his humanitarian work since leaving office.
