After winning the Mortell Award for “Holder of the Year” earlier this month, UCF Football’s punter/holder Mac Loudermilk is choosing to spread the love.
Although his long locks have become a part of his brand, Loudermilk is choosing to donate his hair to Locks of Love, Inc., a non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis.

“My whole reasoning behind growing out my hair was to someday donate it to make a change in someone else’s life,” Loudermilk wrote on his GoFundMe page.
“After our bowl game, I will be chopping off my hair and donating it to Locks of Love, and if you have the hair to do so then I highly encourage you to do so!”
Loudermilk set up the GoFundMe page so that others can help, even if they can’t or don’t want to donate their hair. So far, he has raised over $1,000 of his $10,000 goal, and the campaign is trending on GoFundMe. All money raised goes directly to Locks of Love to further its cause.
“We can all be proud of him and hopefully it will inspire others. He was known for his hair and his celebrations, but he is known for his heart which is on display every time he is on the field,” said Charles Tolman, the Lord Commander of the UCF Knights Watch, a UCF athletics supporters club.
“Now he is showing it with this act of selfless love.”
