The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a tornado watch for many areas in Central Florida, including Orange County.

NWS

The watch is in effect on Tuesday from 6:50 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. and includes Orange, Seminole, Osceola and Volusia counties.

A tornado watch means that the conditions have created a significant risk of a tornado occurring. In contrast, a tornado warning is used when the severe weather is actually occurring. If severe weather actually does occur, a tornado watch will be upgraded to a tornado warning.

Other weather warnings for the counties list the possibility of heavy rain, strong winds, excessive lightning and the possibility of severe weather.
