Just a few weeks after Alpha Tau Omega’s appeal of its suspension was denied, the organization is now under investigation again for allegedly violating UCF’s Golden Rule.
KnightNews.com obtained a letter sent to ATO chapter President David Scaff on October 16 which states that the organization is being charged with disruptive conduct. According to the letter, ATO had a meeting scheduled on Monday with an Office of Student Conduct staff member to discuss the allegations — a standard step that comes before an official hearing.
ATO was suspended through summer 2014 after being found “in-violation” of university policy for alcohol related misconduct following an unregistered social event in its on campus house. UCF Vice President Dr. Maribeth Ehasz denied the fraternity’s appeal and upheld the original sanctions given to the organization.
The fraternity was forced to move out of its on-campus house during midterms earlier this month as part of the suspension.
ATO could face serious consequences should it be found “in-violation” of these new charges, since it is already on suspension.
KnightNews.com is still working to gather more information about this new investigation and what it could mean for ATO.
Continue to check back for updates.
