The World Chili Eating Challenge is sanctioned and produced by the International Federation of Competitive Eating (IFOCE), the same organization that produces the annual Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest. The inaugural event was held last year and won by Chestnut, who ate 6.5 pounds of chili in just eight minutes.
Chestnut will return to defend his crown in 2014, but will face stiff competition from other world-ranked eaters including Matt Stonie, Sonya ‘Black Widow’ Thomas and Tim ‘Eater X’ Janus. They will compete for a total purse of $3,500, with $1,750 going to the winner.
The Orlando Chili Cook-Off will take place at Festival Park Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014 from noon to 6 p.m. and will feature a variety of chili samples, children’s activities and live entertainment.
The Orlando Chili Cook-Off is produced by Events for Change, Inc. a 501(c)(3) organization whose philosophy is “good times for a great cause.”
