No charges will be filed and university police have closed the case in which three women of UCF’s Chi Omega sorority allegedly hazed two pledges.
According to a police report obtained by KnightNews.com, both victims chose not to prosecute leading UCF Police to close the investigation. The sorority remains on interim suspension while UCF’s Office of Student Conduct reviews the incident.
Three sorority members were accused of hazing two pledges, who were led into the UCF Arboretum blindfolded on the night of April 4, according to a police report. The pledges were then told to finish an entire bottle of rum before they could leave and then were abandoned in a parking garage afterwards, the report states.
One victim reported blacking out and was unable to remember a portion of the night. That victim also reported suffering bruising from being carried while she was passed out, the police report stated.
Both victims signed UCFPD declarations of non-prosecution.
Chi Omega is accused of disruptive conduct, hazing and alcohol-related misconduct, including giving alcohol to someone under age 21 and is continuing to be investigated by UCF.
