With all the excitement over last week’s inclusion of Blake Bortles at quarterback, the Jacksonville Jaguars decided to start the rookie, UCF alumnus, in this week’s game against the San Diego Chargers.
Offensively, the Jaguars started out strong, but, by the end of the game, Bortles began to struggle, ending the game with two interceptions thrown and only one touchdown pass.
Bortles found very little aid from his teammates, however, who allowed numerous sacks while the Jaguars defense left little hope. For the fourth game in a row, their defense gave up more than double the points they could produce, giving the Chargers a hefty lead in a game that ended 33-14.
The Jacksonville Jaguars have yet to win a game this season, and will play the Pittsburgh Steelers next Sunday at 1:00 p.m. in Jacksonville.
Looking towards Tampa Bay, the Buccaneers found their first win against the Pittsburgh Steelers this week, in a game that was decided with seven seconds remaining.
Mike Glennon threw the game winning pass to Vincent Jackson, clinching the victory with a final score of 27-24.
Mike Glennon, who took started this week after Josh McCown’s injury during last week’s game, passed for over 300 yards and scored two of the team’s touchdowns. The Buccaneer’s triumph, also, marked the first time the team defeated the Steelers in Pittsburgh since the 80’s. Next Sunday, the Buccaneers head to New Orleans to face the, division rival, Saints at 1:00 p.m.
The Miami Dolphins absolutely decimated the Oakland Raiders in a game that ended 38-14.
Ryan Tannehill, the Dolphins quarterback, threw two touchdowns along with close to 300 yards in a game that featured strong passing along with impressive rushing.
Lamar Miller, the team’s running back, scored 2 touchdowns in addition to Cortland Finnegan’s fumble recovery which was run back for a score. With their bye next week, the Dolphins will return in week six when they host the Green Bay Packers for a 1:00 p.m. game.
