Popular social media app Snapchat has updated once again, bringing many new features to users.

The name of the new update is called Discover. Discover allows users to watch and read brief news from 11 different media outlets, including CNN, ESPN, National Geographic and Cosmopolitan.

“Snapchat Discover is a new way to expose stories from different editorial teams,” Team Snapchat said in their app when introducing Discover.

Another immediate difference one will be able to notice will be the removal of the “Best Friends” option. Now when one goes to click on someone’s username, the option to see his or her “Best Friends” will no longer be there, instead they will just see the time they last updated their story.

Removing the “Best Friends” feature and adding the Discovery feature makes it seem as if Snapchat is looking to get more a professional and meaningful purpose for it’s users.

“It’s the result of collaboration with world-class leaders in media to build a storytelling format that puts narrative first,” Team Snapchat said.

Discover brings more of a media side to Snapchat. Every 24 hours it will be refreshed to bring the most important daily news to its users.

“Every channel brings something unique,” Team Snapchat said. “A wonderful daily surprise!”
