Students, faculty, staff and community members will gather tonight a mega Shabbat event being held on UCF’s campus.

Now in its third year, Shabbat 770 is the “celebration of Jewish unity” and includes a traditional Shabbat dinner to be held in a huge tent on Memory Mall.

“The event has really caught the imagination of the student population here in Orlando,” said Rabbi Chaim Lipskier, director of Chabad at UCF, “we have over 50 students working on making this program a success. I really hope that the faculty and greater Orlando Jewish Community will be able to participate as well, helping to create a greater sense of Jewish community.”

The first event — Shabbat 500 — was held on UCF’s campus two years ago. This year, the event aims to attract 770 people.

“Shabbat 770 is an unbelievable evening for Jewish Students from around the entire campus community to come together for an amazing Shabbat experience!” said Jessica Wolff President of the Chabad Jewish Student Group.

Shabbat is a weekly celebration in Judaism, beginning on Friday at sunset, and continuing until nightfall on Saturday.

The event starts at 6:30 p.m. with appetizers. Shabbat dinner begins at 7:30 p.m. Visit http://www.jewishucf.com/ for more information.
