NASCAR’s schedule this past weekend brought a race to us on a Saturday night, but it was definitely worth while.
Starting off smooth, there were not drastic actions until races’ competition caution, where after Martin Truex Jr. took the lead in the race. He continued to lead the race even after another caution that appeared over debris that was found on the track.
During the caution, Paul Menard was penalized for adjusting a portion of the body of his race care while on Pit Road. But back on the track, Carl Edwards took the lead into halfway through the race – passed by Truex Jr. once, but then stopping him for a short time.
Josh Wise has trouble in Turn 3 after taking a hit in the previous turn, bringing up caution as the car practically dragged itself again the wall as Wise drove. Right before there were 100 laps left in the race it was back to green and Matt Kenseth was in the lead. Trevor Bayne snagged the lead not too soon after before Martin Truex Jr. claimed his spot once again.
With 50 laps left in the race another caution appeared, but nearing the end there was a 13 car collision after Denny Hamlin causes Jimmy Johnson’s car to loosen up and hit Austin Dillion; the cars went in all different directions.
Those under control make it through the scene – one of those being Kyle Busch, the Duck Commander 500s winner – taking the lead that Truex Jr. Kept snagging from everyone – followed by Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Joey Logano.
