An eagerly awaited marching band practice building for the University of Central Florida Marching Band will near completion this Spring, allowing the performers to practice in an air-conditioned facility complete with other services.

Over 11,000 square feet, the building includes 4,000 square feet of enclosed space and a covered area at 7,000 square feet constructed over the band practice field. The building is located near the RWC playing fields.

“The Marching Knights practice through the hottest months of the year and this gives them an air-conditioned space with restrooms and storage, as well as the larger section which is open-air but beneath a shade canopy that is out of the elements,” Senior Communications Coordinator for UCF News & Info Mark Schleub said.

Construction began in October 2016 and will be open forĀ use by the Marching Knights later in April.

“The project is largely complete except for some small items the contractor is continuing to finish up,” Schleub said.
