University of Central Florida Student Body President Nick Larkins announced SGA has created a “hang out space” project on the third floor of the Student Union.

A student emailed Larkins with a request for something ‘fun’ to do between large breaks in classes. Larkins realized no such space existed and began purchase orders for game and leisure items for the Student Union.

Knight News met with Larkins to discuss the project.

The already-approved project will be completed on July 7, 2017. Construction will take place June 30 through July 5.

The space will include a pool table, foosball table, air hockey table, a 60-in-1 Pacman-type video game machine, and two flat screen TVs.

About $6,000 in end-of-year money was matched by Student Union Director Rick Falco to complete the project.

The large bean bags in the third-floor room will be moved behind the Key West Ballroom to a quiet space.
