A Tropical Depression that is tracking through the Caribbean Sea is projected to become a massive hurricane and hit Central Florida next week according to the National Hurricane Center.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has declared a state of emergency in 24 counties throughout Florida to make necessary supplies available for storm preparation with members of the Florida National Guard put on standby in anticipation of the storm’s arrival.
The Storm system named Tropical Depression Nine is currently moving west-northwest is projected to become a Tropical Storm by tonight.
The National Hurricane Center is projecting the storm to become a Hurricane by late this weekend or early next week with the system being called Hermine or Ian.
By this time the system will be projected to become a major Hurricane growing to a category 3 or stronger by the time it hits the Florida Peninsula next Wednesday.
While in the early models of the projections for the storm, it is forecasted that the path of the hurricane will come from the southwest part of the state before traveling up to the central Florida area.
