UCF Homecoming week officially came to a close with this afternoon’s match-up between the Knights and the West Virgina Mountaineers. The Knights took their fifth consecutive loss in the Big 12, coming up short by 13 points with a final score of 41-28. While this was not a birthday wish come true for head coach Gus Malzahn, it still serves as further motivation for UCF to prove themselves in the Big 12 conference.

Fortunately, not all was lost for the students and fans, as Homecoming festivities raged on all week. On Friday night, the UCF community came out to show their support by celebrating at Ignite the Knight, an annual UCF festival with carnival games, live music, and a ten-minute long firework spectacular! The fun was far from over when DJ Diesel, better known as Shaquille O’Neal, stopped by to party with Knight Nation on Saturday morning before the game!

Finally, at halftime, the moment the Homecoming court had been anxiously awaiting had arrived: the crowning of the Homecoming royal pair. Haley Bombard, a Pre-Vet Biology major, and Alex Steel, a Health Administration major, were crowned the UCF Homecoming Royalty of 2023!
