The Florida State Seminoles and Nole Nation are in upheaval as they have not made the 2023 College Football Playoff with a seemingly perfect season!
The Noles had an impressive 2023 football season to say the least. They went undefeated in the season with a 13-0 record and won the ACC conference championship. However, the playoff committee still didn’t feel the Noles had what it took to be in the CFP.
The four teams that did make the playoff are No. 1 Michigan (13-0), No. 2 Washington (13-0), No. 3 Texas (12-1), and No. 4 Alabama (12-1).
The committee’s controversial decision has caused quite the disturbance in Nole Nation. FSU head coach, Mike Norvell, has stated “I am disgusted and infuriated with the committee’s decision today to have what was earned on the field taken away because a small group of people decided they knew better than the results of the games”. He also went on to say “We are not only an undefeated P5 conference champion, but we also played two P5 non-conference games away from home and won both of them. I don’t understand how we are supposed to think this is an acceptable way to evaluate a team”.
Although it is not the same, UCF has a similar story back in 2017. The Knights had gone undefeated the whole season and were left out of the CFP. The committee has proven once again that no matter how hard a team works, favoritism always prevails.
FSU will have the ability to show the CFP committee just how bad they messed up later this month. The Florida State Seminoles will be taking on the Georgia Bulldogs on December 30th in the Orange Bowl.
