With the Knight’s weak defense being one of the factors that contribute to a five game losing streak, UCF made the decision to fire their defensive coordinator, Ted Roof, during his first season with the team.
In just the past games against nationally ranked Iowa State an BYU, UCF has let a thousand yards, 508 rushing yards, and 75 points slip past them. While Roof had results in various roles for teams like Penn State, Vanderbilt, GT, Duke, and Auburn, his time with the Knights has been cut short.
Taking over his role is associate head coach Addison Williams, the new shot caller for defensive plays. In addition, Gus Malzahn said he’s going to hand play calling to offensive coordinator, Tim Harris Jr. With the Knights currently 3-5 overall, these new changes will be seen when the Knights play the Arizona Wildcats at home on November 2nd at 3:30 in their 8th annual Space Game.
