This afternoon, former UCF running back RJ Harvey was nominated to the AP All-American offensive Third Team, well-deserved, based on performance in UCF throughout his collegiate career.
Harvey began his journey at UCF in 2020, where he had a slow start, recording only 3 carries for 3 yards. Though his contributions were minimal early on, Harvey’s determination and growth would eventually transform him into a vital part of the Knights’ offense.
In 2022, Harvey became a valuable part of the team that fully expressed his explosive possibilities: 796 yards on 118 carries, with an impressive average of 6.7 yards per carry and 5 touchdowns. The longest run this season was very impressive-61 yards. And he was reliable as a receiver, too: 22 receptions for 215 yards.
Building off of this breakout season, Harvey came back stronger in 2023, solidifying himself as the clear-cut offensive workhorse for UCF. He rushed for an impressive 1,416 yards and scored 16 touchdowns, proving his consistency and versatility. Explosive in his running style, the ability to break off big plays made Harvey a focal point of the offense.
But his final season in 2024 saw Harvey have the best of his career to this point, as he rushed for a career-high 1,577 yards on 232 carries, averaging 6.8 yards per carry, and found the end zone 22 times. He also had an 80-yard run this season, showing his game-breaking ability.
Throughout his career at UCF, RJ Harvey grew into a dynamic and dominant force on the field. With a total of 3,792 rushing yards, 43 touchdowns, and consistent production in the receiving game, Harvey established himself as one of the great running backs in college football.
